Trust you are all well. Please join me in welcoming the new NZ Chairperson Sarita Engelbrecht she is also Chairperson for Northland area, a lot of us know Sarita when she was an active member of the Auckland Club. I have officially handed over to Sarita today, please welcome her and wish her well in her new position. I am sure each one of you will be of some sort of assistance including myself when needed as of myself I have taken up the position of Zone Chairman for Australasia and will be working on this role to and see what can be achieved to keep the legacy moving forward, I will still be around so if you need me please feel free to be in contact. I have put my property on the market and looking to move to Australia as soon as it sells more about this at a later stage.

Thank you to you all for the support during the years that I have been Chairman and hope you will carry on supporting your new Chairlady.

Unfortunately, for the second year the ceremony had to be held indoors. Veterans Kevin Piccione HCS and Sean Froude laid the SAMVOA wreath. Later we adjourned to a local restaurant for lunch and association.

SAMVOA Canterbury involved in the Ceremonial Canterbury Queen's Birthday 21-Gun Artillery Salute held at Rangiora after a 22-year absence. Event organised by the Godley Head Heritage Trust and Southern Gunners. We were manning the No. 2 Gun, a 25-pounder belonging to the Templeton RSA and beautifully restored by the Godley Head Heritage Trust. (Video credit Francoise Hurt)

The Auckland SAMVOA members held their Spring get together at the Hobsonville RSA today. The meeting was very well attended and the group is growing at a healthy rate. Its wonderful to see our members getting to know each other and forming friendships.

Cedric chaired a great SAMVOA Auckland Regional Meeting today.

Great to see 18 members attending, plus we generated some good income by raffling one of NZ’s secret weapons (The Bug-a-Salt + Laser Beam) amongst other donated items.

Note the members without SAMVOA shirts were mainly new attendees.

(No giving us a hard time on not all wearing same colour jeans, as all members onboard with DR for ANZAC Day and it was casual meeting day)

2021 - SAMVOA Canterbury Medal Presentation

SAMVOA Canterbury Medal Parade with a difference. Nearly 46 years after 2nd Lt Chris Robin lost his life in Angola, his Pro Patria medal with Cunene Clasp was presented to his mother, Joan, and sister, Michelle. Chris' medal was beautifully mounted and framed by Dr Anton van den Bergh. Thanks also to Duncan and Irene Mattushek for their organisation of the event and providing the delicious snacks.
The parade was supported by an excellent contingent of our SAMVOA branch members (who travelled from as far away as Fairlie, Timaru and Rangiora) and their wives. The Templeton RSA Executive Committee were also in attendance and we are grateful for their support of our Canterbury Branch.
