The duties of this section comprised of the maintenance of law and order, safeguarding of stations, goods sheds, goods and shunting yards, harbours and airports. The staff kept their eyes and ears open, acted at scenes of crime and dealt with enquiries of various natures. They also lent a helping hand in cases of emergency and accidents.
