SAMVOZA - Kids for Flips - Suid-Kaap Forum / Just Love

Outreach to Stilbaai in December 2015

On Sunday 27 and Monday the 28th of December a 104 less privilege children from Melkhoutfontein, Stilbaai and surrounding farms had the opportunity to fly in Little Annie.
This outreach from Just Love Mission was made possible by the Mission itself and the South African Military Veterans Organization International (SAMVOINT).

SAMVOZA - Kit for kids at Laerskool Bertie Barnard

Bertie Barnard Primary School is in the Stilbaai area of the Western Cape and educates many young children from low socio-economic backgrounds. These children love their sport, so Colin Bowring of SAMVOZA helped sponsor the rugby and netball teams with new school outfits.

SAMVOZA - Laerskool Bertie Barnard Project

In December, 2016, SAMVOZA Volunteers refurbish the Administration Offices of the Bertie Barnard Primary School in Stilbaai, Western Cape.

The end result was a completely new look and a school reception that gives a very good impression
and family atmosphere that clearly shows this school’s commitment to its pupils.

SAMVOZA Remote Community Upliftment Project

Remote areas of Africa have issues with finding a clean water supply. This projects flies in equipment required to find water, drill for it and pump it out. What better way than using a Merry-go-Round, driven by the children?

SAMVOZA Malmesbury Shelter Project

The project started with improving the shelter situation for 36 Veterans and their families in the Malmesbury area in the Western Cape. Yongama Zigebe, our Welfare and Parliamentary Officer put the entire project together, securing a roof over the heads of this large number of homeless Veterans and their families and food on the table.

The shelter is an old Church building, which Yongama had to make a personal commitment to ensure it will be looked after.

We, the Veterans and, we are sure the people within that Shelter, salute you, Yongama.

SAMVOZA Safe House Project

This project provides a safe haven for destitute Veterans and their families, putting them up until they can find their feet again in a safe family environment. This enables the Veteran to reestablish himself / herself in suitable work whilst the children can attend school.

Remembrance Day_edited.jpg

deceased SamvoZa veterans

It is with sadness that we are informed of Gert Nel’s passing. Gert joined SAMVOZA in 2013 and was the Zone Chairman until 2015 when he took up the post of Limpopo Regional Chairman.  He assisted many of our Police Veterans across the country. He will not be forgotten. Our condolences to the Nel family.
May His Soul Rest In Peace.

It is with great sadness that we must share the news of the passing of SAMVOZA Veteran Rowland "Rolly" John Ross earlier this month. Rolly served as a Sergeant in the SA Irish Regiment from 1966 - 1976. He was part of the Hunter Training established by the SA Irish Regiment in 1968 - the forerunner of the Recces. Veteran Godfrey Giles shared these thoughts: "I remember him during our Saturday training exercises as a gentle soul with a big heart... He served his country well; we will miss him but not forget him. Our condolences to his family. May His Soul Rest in Peace now."  We salute you, Sgt Ross!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Veteran ex RSM Trevor “Porky” Wright HC MMM JCD & Bar of the Transvaal Scottish Regimental Association and SAMVOZA on June 1st, 2023.
He will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Susan, Phillip, Morag and Alex during this difficult time.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Lest we Forget
